Had a good day, yesterday, at THE BOWEN CENTER FOR THE ARTS in Dawsonville Georgia. It was the the Opening Awards Reception for the JURIED PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT. This is a national exhibition that runs through July 24th with 164 works on display from an amazing list of 56 world class photographers competing in two categories, Landscape and People/Animals.
It was a real honor to be included on the list of recognized entries in an event where all the entries were winners. 3 of my 5 entries placed in the People/Animals Category:
Honorable Mention for 'Paperkite'
Second Place for 'Sharp Dressed Man'
First Place for 'Monkey and the Snake'
I also have two additional works in this show:
I want to thank Ginny Greenwood and all the volunteers at The Bowen for all the hard work they put into hosting such a wonderful event.

With the ‘Life as we knew It’ scenario becoming more and more a reality after Covid 2020, I am happy that the Art Exhibitions that I enjoy participating in are once again happening. With this in mind, I am proud to announce that I had one of my works selected for the “Spread Your Wings’ Exhibit at the Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) in Roswell Georgia. This is a juried photography exhibit in association with the Georgia Nature Photographers Association (GNPA) and was open to the very talented membership of photographers for submissions. The exhibit coincides with the CNC Butterfly Festival and is running June 4th thru August 25th 2021.
The following is from the President of the Georgia Nature Photographers Association, Eric Bowles, regarding this exhibit:
“An enthusiastic response by GNPA members resulted in 276 entries this month for the “Spread Your Wings” gallery exhibit at Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell. Of those entries, only 24 could be chosen to hang in the gallery. The level of photography was excellent, and there were a number of truly outstanding photos.
I (Eric Bowles) judged the competition and made the selections for the gallery. The winning images will be selected after the framed prints are delivered in early June. The gallery exhibit opens on June 4, 2021.
Overall, the images for the gallery exhibit were selected based on artistic image quality, with an effort to strike a balance of different types of winged subjects and their behavior. The selected images were determined to be the best of their specific group or species, and in many cases showed creativity or unusual behavior. All were well edited to present the subject naturally and in a positive light. While we had to narrow it down to just 24 images to hang in the gallery, there were over 90 images submitted that were selected as finalists and were worthy of hanging in any GNPA exhibit.”
My Image selected was:
'Foggy Morning Take-Off'
'Spread Your Wings'

I am very Honored to have one of my works invited to this exhibition. This is a Mixed Media Show with some of Atlanta's most gifted Artist. Photography is often not considered a true art form by those who labor to realize artistic ideas from painting, drawing, sculpture, weaving, artistic design, folk art, graphic art, illustration, mosaic, stained glass, tapestry, wood or metal working. So to me this is a big deal to be in with such creative company.
My image that was invited was
